Jessica
began her dance training at the age of five in Riverside, California
at Just Plain Dancin’ & Co. where she danced competitively
in the genres of jazz, tap, and lyrical dance for 13 years. Jessica
then studied modern dance at California State University, Long Beach
where she earned a B.F.A. in Dance in 2005. For two years following
graduation, Jessica danced with BARE Dance Company, a modern dance company
based in Costa Mesa and directed by Mike Esperanza. While taking a break
from performing in 2006, Jessica got married and earned her teaching
credential in Physical Education. She now teaches dance full-time at
Pasadena High School. She is delighted and honored to dance with Benita Bike’s
DanceArt, since the company’s emphasis on both performing and
educating audiences about modern dance is a perfect fit for Jessica’s
twin passions of the arts and education. (Jessica is on maternity leave beginning January 2010.)
